Dr. S. Sam Sedki - Professor of Accounting
Dr. S. Sam Sedki joined the faculty of the Bill Greehey School of Business in 1981 as a professor of accounting; and he served as chairman of the accounting department for eight years. Dr. Sedki has held various national and regional offices within the American Accounting Association, twice serving as vice president and program chair. He has been vice president of the Administrators of Accounting Group and is one of the founders of the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association.
He also chaired various committees of the Financial Executive's International, serving as treasurer of FEI (1995-96), secretary (1996-1997), vice president (1997-1998) and president (1998-99). Dr. Sedki, author of the Financial Accounting Study Guide, has published in national and regional referred journals and proceedings and is editor of the Journal of the Academy of Business Administration.
Co-recipient of the 1994 Douglass Award for Innovative Teaching, Dr. Sedki's teaching interest is in financial accounting.

Dr. Richard J. Bauer, CFA - Professor of Finance
Dr. Richard J. Bauer, CFA, is the author of Genetic Algorithms and Investment Strategies (1994) and co-author (with Dr. Julie Dahlquist) of Technical Market Indicators (1999), both published by John Wiley & Sons. Technical Market Indicators has also been translated into Chinese and is currently being distributed in Asia. Recent publications include "Market Timing and Roulette Wheels" (co-authored with Dr. Julie Dahlquist), which appeared in the Jan/Feb 2001 issue of Financial Analysts Journal, and a chapter in the Book of Investing Rules (2001). His other research has appeared in a variety of academic journals.
Dr. Bauer has been quite active in the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts serving as president (1996-97) and in other leadership positions. At St. Mary's, he has served as associate dean (1994-97) and M.B.A. director (1992-94) of the Bill Greehey School of Business, and as president of the St. Mary's University Faculty Senate (1998-99). He is a member of the American Finance Association, Financial Management Association and the Southwestern Finance Association. Prior to earning his doctorate, Dr. Bauer worked as a manager and owner of small businesses. He is an active member of First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio.

Dr. Suzanne N. Cory - Professor of Accounting
Dr. Suzanne N. Cory has served as acting dean of the Greehey School of Business, associate dean and M.B.A. program director. Prior to beginning her academic career, Dr. Cory was employed in public accounting. She has extensive academic experience with teaching specialties in financial and management accounting.
Her research interests include behavioral and gender issues in accounting and accounting education. Dr. Cory has authored articles in several journals including The Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Business Ethics, Accounting Historians Notebook, Journal of Business Issues, The Accounting Educator's Journal and The Review of Business. In addition to presenting scholarly papers at academic meetings, she is active in the American Accounting Association and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dr. Gail Kaciuba - Associate Professor of Accounting
After working in public accounting for several years, Dr. Gail Kaciuba started teaching accounting full time, and eventually attended Northwestern University to earn a PhD in Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences. The mathematical economics PhD couldn’t keep her from teaching what she liked best – accounting. She has taught accounting at DePaul University in Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, Midwestern State University, and Texas Tech University.
Dr. Kaciuba wrote a study guide and created interactive power point presentations for classroom use that emphasize active learning concepts. She develops a great deal of her own teaching materials that emphasize, in addition to the technical knowledge of the course, core competencies included in the AICPA’s Core Competency Framework. The assessment of these competencies is a frequent topic of Dr. Kaciuba’s presentations at academic conferences. During her tenure at DePaul University, Dr. Kaciuba was awarded the School of Accountancy’s Faculty Excellence Award.
Her research interests include game theoretic analyses of the oil and gas industry, improvements in accounting education, and activity-based costing in health care. Dr. Kaciuba was a member of a panel of experts before HCFA (the arm of Congress that administrated Medicare) to discuss improving the methodology used for computing reimbursements to physicians. She has spoken to numerous physicians’ associations and at the American Medical Association on this subject. Dr. Kaciuba’s academic articles have appeared in journals such as Journal of the American Taxation Association, Issues in Accounting Education, The Journal of Accounting Education, The Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Accountancy, and Healthcare Financial Management.

Dr. Thomas F. Madison - Associate Professor and Chair of Accounting Department
Dr. Madison joined the faculty of the Bill Greehey School of Business in 1998. He previously taught accounting courses at Texas Tech University. His primary teaching interests are in managerial accounting, cost accounting and introductory accounting. Dr. Madison is a member of the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
His articles have appeared in the Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Cost Analysis, Advances in Management Accounting, and the Journal of Business Education. Dr. Madison is the 2003 Distinguished Faculty member for the Bill Greehey School of Business.

Dr. Prasad Padmanabhan - Professor of Finance and Myra Stafford Pryor Chair of Free Enterprise
Dr. Padmanabhan comes to St. Mary's Bill Greehey School of Business from San Diego State University, where he was an associate professor of finance. He also has prior teaching experience at the Pennsylvania State University, the University of the West Indies, Vanderbilt University, McGill University and Concordia University. A prolific researcher, his articles have been published in several prominent professional and academic journals including International Business Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, Journal of International Management, Financial Review, Journal of Global Business, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Global Finance Journal, and Financial Analysts Journal. Dr. Padmanabhan is dedicated and accomplished in the classroom, specializing in teaching international finance, investments, corporate finance, financial management and international business.

Dr. Mark B. Persellin - Professor of Accounting
Dr. Mark B. Persellin is a specialist in taxation and has made many contributions to the tax field. His articles have appeared in The Accounting Educators' Journal, The Tax Adviser, The CPA Journal, Journal of Taxation, Journal of Corporate Taxation, The Tax Executive and the Journal of American Taxation Association, and he is a contributing author in West Federal Taxation: Corporations, Partnerships, Estates & Trusts.
Prior to coming to St. Mary's University, Dr. Persellin worked for Peat Marwick and Mitchell, and he taught at Southwest Texas State University, Florida Atlantic University and the University of Houston.

Kent W. Royalty - Professor of Accounting
Kent W. Royalty is past president of the Southwestern Region of the American Accounting Association and is active in numerous other professional associations. Professor Royalty primarily teaches in the areas of taxation and the legal environment of business.
He is an active researcher whose articles have appeared in The CPA Journal, Trial Lawyers Forum, Business and Tax Planning Quarterly, Business Law Review, Southern Business and Economic Review, Journal of Small Business Management, The Journal of Legal Studies Education and Accounting Perspectives, and Oil and Gas Quarterly.
